Massage will include the following: acupressure and trigger point therapy blended with traditional Swedish techniques geared towards improving circulation, promoting relaxation, relieving pain, and promoting overall health and well-being.
Trigger points are bundled (or knotted) muscle fibers characterized by their state of continuous contraction, resulting in referred pain (or pain at another site in the body). Normal muscle contraction acts to circulate blood for metabolic needs and when trigger points hold their contraction it causes stagnation due to impaired circulation. The body then responds to the oxygen starvation and metabolic waste accumulation by sending out pain signals.
Releasing trigger points helps to flush the surrounding tissue and relieve the contracted muscle fibers. Massaging trigger points is a safe and effective form of pain therapy.
Acupressure involves the stimulation of specific acupuncture points and meridians using finger pressure. Pressing on these points relaxes the muscles, relieves tension, promotes qi and blood circulation, and ultimately promotes the body’s self-healing process.
Like acupuncture, stimulation of these specific points with acupressure can trigger the release of endorphins, our body’s natural pain killer, blocking pain and increasing blood flow and oxygen to the affected area. In a relaxed state, the body is then able to resume balance and health.
Swedish Massage invigorates circulation and promotes deep relaxation using techniques such as: effleurage and petrissage, gliding and kneading movements using the hands, palms, thumbs and/or fingertips.

WHAT TO EXPECT
- After our initial intake, you will be instructed to disrobe to your comfort level while I leave the room. Some clients prefer to disrobe completely, while others remain partially clothed. Either option is acceptable. Once disrobed, you will be instructed to lie on the massage table under the top sheet. You will be given a few minutes for this process, then I will knock on the door to ask if you're ready before entering the room.
- You will remain draped with the top sheet for the duration of your massage. I will only uncover the part of the body that I'm working on to ensure your modesty, and to keep you warm and comfortable. Genitals and breasts will not be worked on.
- All massages will be customized to meet your needs. Feedback on pressure, temperature, lighting, and music are encouraged.
- Depending on your needs and requests, your session will include either a full-body massage, or focused work to areas of the body that you've requested.
- SacredEarth Botanical massage oils and/or lotions will be applied to the skin as lubrication. All products are unscented and do not contain synthetic fragrances or colors. All products are also cruelty free, hypo-allergenic, certified organic, and are free from formaldehyde releasing preservatives. However, please notify me of any preferences, sensitivities, cautions or contraindications.
- Once your session is complete, I will leave to room to allow you a few minutes to get re-dressed.
- You should eat at least 2 hours before your massage. It is not advised to come with a full belly.
