Emily Snodgrass, LPC, NCC, MS
I conduct counseling from a complex trauma informed and relational perspective. It is my belief that every person is innately different. I want to provide a safe space for you to identify, embody, and express your unique self. In this space, we will work collectively to explore the inner workings of your current experience to turn what was once overwhelming into overcoming.
My therapeutic foundation encompasses the power of collaborative relationship and the belief that the mind and body only work in ways to keep you safe. By learning to compassionately sit with the discomfort of your experience, we can discover what creative adjustments and skills (both internally and externally) can bring you closer to your personal goals.
I facilitate counseling for individuals with a holistic, integrative therapeutic approach. We will explore your biology, rather than attaching to the biography of your experience. By utilizing the mind-body connection with traditional talk therapy, the body can regulate and process a wide range of experiences. This integrated approach will extend beyond traditional talk therapy and may include: movement, yoga, meditation, breathwork, body and thought awareness, art and creative expression, and mindfulness.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed by the state of Oregon - I am also a National Certified Counselor, certified by the National Board of Counselors. I completed a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Avila University. I am a certified level 1 clinical trauma professional who focuses on the neurobiological legacy of trauma. My counseling practice is supplemented with Eastern philosophy and practices. These practices were learned within Yoga Alliance Certified programs of 200-hour trauma-informed yoga training and trauma-informed, brain sensitive yoga training. These programs emphasized how the body can heal and transform with practices of postures, mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork. In addition to working with individuals, I have conducted psycho-educational groups for anxiety and stress management.
